Leadership and management and the difference between leadership and management.

Today we seem to use the two words leadership and management, with the same meaning and it seems as it is hard to differentiate leadership and management.

When actually between leadership and management there is a huge difference.

Leadership

Leadership is when you set a new direction or vision for a group that they need to follow, and the leader is the spearhead for the new direction they are all heading.

Management

Management controls and directs the people into, what they need or must do. They control how the group uses the resources and how they spend time in accordance with principles and values that have been established.

Are there a difference between leadership and management.

Yes,

The difference is clear when you look above. A manager is one who will tell you how to do it. Whereas a leader is one who will tell you where you are going and show you directions and give you tools and support to get there – leadership is above management.

What do you want to be.

If I think about it, I have had 5 bosses in my life and I have only met one leader. I can tell you to today, I still think about him and how he invested in me and my learning. The other 4 were managers who wanted to control and control everything.

The strange part is, I believe we work harder, better and smarter. When we have a good leader. Most people who are in the office today, know how to control their time, effort and what they must deliver.

Why do we then have so many managers to control us? I remember one day, at work where I just said to myself, it is not my company and I do not care anymore, and from that day, I stopped engaging with my passion. I did what I was told not more, not less.

Of course, I could not keep that, I got fired, I am a person who works with passion and follow the rules. When your management wants to break the rules and cheat and do cheap. It is time for me to get out. I lead and I want to be a leader.
