Not a mission statement. The deep, personal sense of what you are here to do — which persists through difficulty, disappointment, and seasons when nothing seems to be working.
This session takes 20 to 30 minutes Find a quiet space No right answers
"The person with a clear Purpose does not need external validation to keep moving. The direction itself is the motivation." CoachingAndLife 52 Ways Program
Purpose is one of the most over-discussed and under-examined values in personal development. It has been turned into a brand, a product, a thing you discover in a weekend workshop. But real Purpose is quieter and harder to pin down. It is the through-line that connects what you care about most to how you actually spend your time — and in most lives, those two things have a significant gap between them.
The clearest sign that Purpose is present is not enthusiasm — it is persistence. The person who has found their Purpose keeps working on it when motivation is absent, when recognition has not arrived, when results are not yet visible. That persistence is not willpower. It is orientation. They know which direction they are pointing and they keep pointing that way.
Use this session when you feel productive but purposeless. When you are achieving things and nothing feels meaningful. When you want to understand the difference between what you are good at, what you are asked to do, and what you are actually here for.
"Purpose is not something you find. It is something you build — through repeated choices about what you are willing to prioritise and what you are willing to let go." CoachingAndLife 52 Ways Program © Berit Ladefoged
Not why the company says it matters — why it matters to them personally. That personal why gives them a stability that external changes cannot touch. When the structure shifts around them, they stay oriented because their anchor is internal.
Because they know what they are for, they can be clear about what they are not for. That clarity is not arrogance — it is the result of having done the honest work of knowing what matters to them and committing to it.
Every goal achieved. Every benchmark met. Every performance review excellent. And underneath it, a persistent flatness — the feeling that none of it is adding up to anything. Achievement without Purpose is very productive movement in a direction that was never chosen.
To someone who values variety and spontaneity, a person who is clear about their direction and spends energy accordingly can look rigid or limited. But the person with genuine Purpose is not less open to life — they are more able to engage fully with it because they are not scattered across a hundred directions at once.
To someone who equates activity with meaning, a person who is constantly moving, constantly producing, constantly responding, can look like they have direction. But busyness is not Purpose — it is often the most effective way of avoiding the question of what the work is actually for.
It requires the willingness to sit with uncertainty long enough to hear what is actually asking for your attention beneath the noise. That is an uncomfortable process and most people avoid it by staying very, very busy.
Think about the last time this value was fully present in your life. What did it feel like and what did it make possible? Now think about where it is absent today. Write down the difference between those two states as specifically as you can.
When does this value show up in you naturally and without effort? When do you suppress it because it feels unsafe or too much? Notice the gap between those two answers. That gap is where this week’s work lives.
If this value were fully alive in you, what would change at work? What would change at home? What decision that you have been avoiding would suddenly become clear? Be specific. Generalities do not move anything.
This value is not an end in itself. It is a door. When you live it fully, what does it open? What relationships become easier? What version of yourself shows up that is not yet fully present?
Do not soften this. Where in your life right now is the absence of this value creating friction, distance, or stagnation? Name it precisely. The clearer you are about the cost, the more motivated you will be to do the actual work this week.
This is a guided conversation, not a quiz. The AI will open warmly, ask you real questions, and follow your answers. There are no right responses. Speak from where you actually are today, not from who you think you should be. The conversation will take 10 to 20 minutes and it will go at your pace.
